P/S: B'z's MAGIC is really really good! XD

Magazine cover:

28/11~4/12 - Ohkura & Yasu on The Television Weekly

I really like the songs in this bunch! My favourites are Kanjani8's Brilliant Blue and Hitotsu no Uta. Brilliant Blue is just brilliant, while Hitotsu no Uta has great lyrics. cinematic is recommended as well, as it is just a sweet, nice ballad. For more reasons why, please refer to this post.

Also, for anyone who's interested, here's the live version of Hitotsu no Uta, which sounds quite different than the CD version. I love both versions almost equally, though I slightly prefer the live version more.

Bonus:

"Hitotsu no Uta (live version)" - recorded during Tour 2009 Puzzle at Kyocera Dome, with fans' voices.

As for the other songs, I fell in love badly with Kakera. I couldn't stop listening to it now! The song reminds me of Mr.Children a lot, and I hope we'll be hearing from Mr.Children soon as well.

For fun, catchy rock songs, try out BREAKERZ and Stereopony. For a slightly melancholic choice, try LM.C. If you like sweet pop songs, go for Nagareboshi, Swear and Once Again. Nakajima Miyuki is as interesting as ever, while HOME MADE KAZOKU haven't lost their touch. Koe wo Kikasete is pretty good too, fitting the drama, though the same cannot be said about BIGBANG's (bad) pronunciation (lol!). And Ichou is just so so cute! :)

Hmm, cindi reminds me of the fact that if Eito didn't release the X'mas singles this year, then they would only have 10 singles in the first 5 years of debut. Which would make them the group with the lowest number of singles in 5 years. I don't know why but that does sound a bit sad.

Which also reminds me that now they're going to have 4 singles out this year, does that mean that we may be getting a new album before their Summer Tour next year? I say Summer Tour because I think that NEWS will have a Winter/Spring Tour next year.

P/S: Yay Yoko has a rendora next season! :)

26 November - Kanjani8 on Best Hits Kayousai 2009 (YTV)

LOL the daily charts on major online stores produce interesting results today. Midori is no.1 on CDJapan and HMV, while Shiro is no.2 on CDJapan and Aka is no.2 on HMV. But Amazon takes a totally different route with 1) Shiro, 2) Aka, 5) Midori. Maybe Midori can pick up steam tomorrow. I'm just glad they're all doing so well especially on Amazon, in which for Kanjani8, is the more accurate indicator of their sales and chart position.

KANJANI8 DOME CONCERT 2009-2010

Kyocera Dome, Osaka:
30 Dec - 18:00
31 Dec - 22:00 (will last until after midnight)
1 Jan - 18:00

Some singles info:

GIFT ~Shiro~

Tracklist:
01. Fuyugoi
02. Kimi no Uta wo Utau

GIFT ~Aka~

Tracklist:
01. I wish
02. Minus 100 Do no Koi

GIFT ~Midori~

Tracklist:
01. Yuki wo Kudasai
02. One day in winter
03. Snow White

Pre-order links can be found here.

Except for Yasu & Ryo who are co-writing Snow White, I'm still not sure about the songwriters on Midori. But Aka has the songwriter for Kawaita Hana, my favourite song on Puzzle. And Shiro has Tanaka Hidenori who writes the entire thing for Brulee (another favourite song of my mine in the album) and the lyrics for Rolling Coaster. And also TAKESHI, who writes Kyuu Jou Show and stuff like fuka-fuka Love the Earth and Jounetsu Party and Subaru's Aoi Sora. I'm guessing that TAKESHI didn't write something a-la KJS this time though, considering the singles theme.

The singles are stated as Limited Release, so it's either 'limited time' or 'limited number'. If it's 'limited number' usually they would just say Limited Edition, so I'm guessing these singles are on 'limited time'? I wonder until when? Well I did my pre-orders already! XD

P/S: Midori is frequently topping CDJapan's Real Time ranking, with Shiro in second and Aka in third or the other way around (in my current time). Everybody must have been excited at the fact that it's Yasu and Ryo's first song written for the entire band! And it has an extra 1 song more than the other 2. Question is, which single will be no.1 by the end of Oricon week? LOL this is kinda fun! Shiro has release day(s) advantage though...

I was fast asleep this morning when marchlavender woke me up at around 4.30 and told me to go online and see the big surprising news for myself.

Oh my how I freaked out! *and I still am!*

Kanjani8 will release THREE consecutive singles on 23rd, 24th and 25th of December this year, each priced at 888 yen! The singles titles are:

GIFT ~Shiro~
GIFT ~Aka~
GIFT ~Midori~

They're in X'mas colours and sound very X'mas-sy. Overall there will be 7 songs including the B-sides. I hope the guys get more creative control over the singles this time...

And oh, they will also hold THREE consecutive Countdown events at Kyocera Dome on 30th, 31st and 1st (of January). Their very own Countdown live will be held a-la KinKi Kids last year. Which means Kanjani8 won't be at the Tokyo Dome countdown this year.

Head on to kanjani8 LJ comm for more info!

P/S: I wonder if anyone already translated the newspaper article and posted it on aramatheydidn't?

Congratulations Eito! It's their second best-selling first week after Musekinin Hero. :) The singles chart looks very good too!

J-Songs... )

Recommending MONKEY MAJIK and KinKi Kids' songs. Sanatorium is pretty nice too.

After visiting cindi's blog, I realized that the reason why Eito is listed as Special Guest for Best Hit Kayousai 2009 is because it's an award show, and Johnnys don't get to be nominated in award shows LOL!

A delayed post...

  • Nov. 11th, 2009 at 11:08 AM

JIN scores 20.3% in rating, the highest so far this season. The drama deserves it, probably the best drama this year.

Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji Season 4's Episode 7 (2-hour finale) is finally up with subs.

ROMES filming ended on Nov 8th.

Eito's first end-of-year music show's appearance has been announced! They will be special guests on YTV/NTV's Best Hits Kayousai on 26 November 2009. It's Maru's birthday! But what could this 'special guest' means? Only LINDBERG is listed with them (so far).

SCP updated their site with song info. The boys are singing Kyuu Jou Show!! AND Hitotsu no Uta (with band performance)! Too awesome! XD

Hina in AneCan December. I want cool shots. I loved Yoko & Subaru's so much!

Music News: First week sales - Eito sold 272k, Bon Jovi with 67k, NEWS with only 142k. *Yes I know I'm being mean*

By next week, Arashi's My Girl would be in the Top10, and Kyuu Jou Show!! should also enter the Top10. Hopefully, they'd sell 300k before the Oricon year ends and maintain the no.10 spot.

And I don't understand why KJS LE-A is outselling LE-B. LE-B's DVD is worth more with a freakin' 15-minutes long of director's cut & PV, compared to a mere 5-minutes of PV in LE-A. I wonder why Vendy only uploaded 3 minutes of footage though...maybe she missed it.

P/S: I'm currently (re)watching Shiroi Kyoto without skipping. Engaging and compelling, as expected from a pool of no-nonsense veterans with immense talents, a great story and gripping plot, even if it's set within the hospital politics. The same cannot be said about Fumou Chitai though. Great cast is wasted with poor storytelling. :(

Congratulations to KinKi Kids for an extension of their Guiness World Book of Records! XD Both charts are doing decently this week which is good! :)

J-Songs... )

Hirai Ken's new song is probably my favourite from this bunch, along with Shiki and Motto. I put RIVER's link as well because it's the no.1 song from the week. The song is actually quite good, anthem-y and catchy. I just wonder how high the new power girls would rise, would they be the next MoMusu (during their heyday) or would they just be another one of those fast-rising, fast-falling idol girls in the industry. Btw, I would also recommend Spontania's new song (if you like what he previously did with JUJU), and also AAA's Hide-away because it really is very catchy! Matsu Takako's new song is quite OK, but I still love her Toki no Fune the most.

It's one of those days again. Gloomy and rainy, makes me want to curl up in bed in front of the TV and watch Eguchi Yosuke's dramas. Instead, I'm stuck in the office and feeling bored. The only thing that would make it a brighter day is if my singles and DVDs arrive today...

Hah I knew it!

  • Nov. 3rd, 2009 at 12:47 AM

The popular votes and reporters' votes for Buzzer Beat outweighs the jury votes and made it Best Drama in the latest The Television Academy Awards. Hmmph, figures as much. But then I saw the jury votes and I just LOL-ed so hard!

Jury votes:

1. Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji 4 (Fuji TV)
2. Ninkyo Helper (Fuji TV)

3. Buzzer Beat (Fuji TV)
4. Kanryotachi no Natsu (TBS)
5. MR. BRAIN (TBS)

They totally should have a separate Critics' Award or something!

Btw, I just heard from a friend that there are huge posters of Yamapi's single (with mention of his solo con) and also for NEWS' DVD on the Shibuya intersection. Nothing on Eito though...LOL they are so not getting any love!

J-Songs... )

B'z rocks! Inaba Koshi-sama rocks! I just love MY LONELY TOWN so much! XD

I pretty much like most of the releases from the week, especially Golden Time Lover. The song actually reminds me of Brulee a bit. As such, Brulee could have been a great single!

Also, Tamaki Nami has finally stepped up her game by releasing a good pop-R&B love song, which had me singing along to the chorus. For more sweet love songs, try Love Notes and Arigatou no Egao.

I just heard that Eito will be on MUSIC FAIR on Fuji TV soon! Apparently they've recorded their part. This is so exciting! XD If it's MUSIC FAIR then they could be performing Hitotsu no Uta instead of Kyuu Jou Show!!. Ah, I wonder when the Hey3x Music Champ appearance will be aired. They will be recording their part on Nov 1st. I guess maybe the next Monday which is on the 9th? More TV promotions, please! :)

Hmm, why haven't I seen My Girl covers on [info]kanjani8 yet?

Kyuu Jou Show!! CM is out! This is the only thing I let myself be spoiled with because I certainly won't be downloading any of the song previews LOL!

Meanwhile, Yone will hold his first live as a non-Johnny in November, with his new band (name still unannounced). It was said that a certain senpai/mentor will be there as a guest but we couldn't be sure if it's Subaru. Who knows? He might show up in disguise or something to support Yone...

Aishiteru ~Kaiyou~ wins Tokyo Drama Award for this year. Now this I approve! XD

P/S: Happy birthday, [info]fromyesterday ! XD

My favourite out of this bunch is Hilcryme's! I got curious of this lot when I see the way they keep returning to the top 10. They have somewhat a fusion between ORANGE RANGE and GReeeeN and I love it! XD And this makes for a good ballad as well!

Kawamura Ryuichi's Brilliant Stars is also growing on me. It sounds like the stuff LUNA SEA used to put out for dorama themes. And to Kanjani8 fans who like stuff from KJ2 like Big Sky Blues and Daidassou ~The Great Escape~, I think you guys might like Nakashima Mika's songs! By the way, Cold Edge from the 9mm Parabellum Bullet rockers is not bad too!

Drama8 slot on NHK (for my own reference)...

Average rating:

Battery (Nakayama Yuma, Takada Sho, Morimoto Shintaro) - 7.9% (peak: 9.6%)
otome no Punch (Yamasaki Shizuyo, Kurotani Tomoka, Iwasa Mayuko, Kyo Nobuo) - 8.7% (peak: 10.2%)
Cat Street (Tanimura Mitsuki, Katsuji Ryo) - 5.9% (peak: 7.0%)
Nanase Futatabi (Renbutsu Misako, Shioya Shun) - 5.9% (peak: 9.1%) also happened to be my favourite dorama in this timeslot so far!
Q.E.D. (Nakamura Aoi, Takahashi Ai) - 5.1% (peak: 7.1%)
Ghost Friends (Fukuda Saki, Nishijima Takahiro) - 3.6% (peak: 4.4%)
Futatsu no Spica (Sakuraba Nanami, Nakamura Yuichi) - 3.2% (peak: 3.5%)
ROMES (Ohkura Tadayoshi, Yasuda Shota, Kuninaka Ryoko) 6.0% (1st episode)

So far, Otome no Punch, Battery and Nanase Futatabi were the more successful ones in this timeslot. Otome no Punch even managed a 10.2% of peak rating which is kinda big! Even Battery did decently, which kinda explain Yuma's rising popularity. I hope ROMES can get a peak rating around 8-10% at one point, but staying around 6% is probably not bad, I guess?

Kanjani8 will be on Shounen Club Premium 15 November to perform. Yay! I bet they're going to perform Kyuu Jou Show!! & Hitotsu no Uta! XD I can't wait for the start of Kyuu Jou Show!! promos! :)
